18th annual Cone Parade set to start in Carytown on New Year’s Day

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The 18th Annual Cone Parade will kick off in Carytown on New Year's Day.

On Thursday, Jan. 1, at noon, the annual Cone Parade will begin in the parking lot of the Aquarian Bookshop, located at 12 S. Thompson St.

This classic Richmond tradition originated from the Aquarian Bookshop.

According to the Cone Parade website, the reason behind the cone is that it is a powerful symbol that focuses on "bringing forth and focusing energy." Additionally, cones are a fun way to show off creativity and create a positive atmosphere.
