19 names to be added to Commonwealth Safety Memorial
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Nearly 20 names will be added to the Commonwealth Safety Memorial on Sept. 13.
The Virginia Public Safety Foundation is holding the event, Commonwealth Public Safety Memorial, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Capitol Square -- 901 Capitol St. in Richmond.
According to a spokesperson with the Virginia State Police, 19 names will be added to the wall this year -- one more than last year, which saw a total of 18 names being added in 2024. There will also be a reception after the ceremony.
Last year, the two names of fallen firefighters with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS were engraved into the Commonwealth Public Safety Memorial in Richmond on Aug. 20, 2024. They joined other Virginia first responders who have all died in the line of duty.
Some ceremony sponsors for this year's event include Enterprise, AT&T, Virginia Plastic Surgery and Richmond Ambulance Authority.
