19-year-old identified as man who shot local actor, then himself in East Grace Street incident

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond Police Department has identified a 19-year-old as the man who shot 35-year-old Adam Turck before shooting himself in an incident on East Grace Street on Saturday.

On Friday, Aug. 8, the Richmond Police Department identified the shooter as 19-year-old Dustin Grady, also of Richmond, following a deadly shooting.

At 10:17 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 2000 block of East Grace Street for a reported domestic call.

When police arrived, they found two men down and unresponsive with life-threatening gunshot wounds, and one was self-inflicted.

Turck and Grady were both taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Investigators determined that Grady was in a confrontation with a woman on the sidewalk in front of an apartment building when police received 911 calls for a violent domestic situation. Turck was allegedly passing by while walking his dog when he attempted to intervene, according to police.

Officials said Grady pulled out a gun from his backpack, shot Turck and then shot himself.

Earlier this week, 8News spoke with friends of Turck -- a beloved actor in Richmond's theater community -- who spoke about his warmth and selflessness.

“[Adam] was playful and clever, he was strong and wise, he was wildly competitive and had a moral compass made of steel. Adam was fiercely devoted to his craft, his loved ones, and finding joy in any corner. He was also stubborn, too smart for his own good, and when he started a bit, oh, that man would not quit. But above all else, he was kind," a statement from his family reads.
