2-year-old boy identified as child shot in Richmond’s Fan District Tuesday evening
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The child who was injured after a shooting in Richmond's Fan District Tuesday evening has been identified by police as being a 2-year-old boy.
At 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1900 block of West Main Street for the report of a person shot.
When officers arrived, they were told a boy had been shot and taken to a local hospital by his parents. Moments later, the hospital reportedly notified the Richmond Department of Emergency Communications that the child had arrived.
According to police, detectives have determined the 2-year-old boy was shot while at the location of the report of a person shot. Officials said his injuries are non-life-threatening.
"Detectives are not looking for anyone else at this time," said a police spokesperson.
