20-year-old NC man faces multiple charges following police pursuit in Henrico, Hanover counties that ended in crash

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 20-year-old North Carolina man is facing multiple charges after a police pursuit that began in Henrico County ended in a crash in the parking lot of a Hanover County business.

On Thursday, Oct. 23, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were alerted about a possible stolen vehicle in the area of Richmond Henrico Turnpike and Azalea Avenue.

Officers found the vehicle at around 6:15 p.m. and tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver, identified as 20-year-old Takaree Fields of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., ignored the active blue lights and drove away.

The officer reportedly initiated a pursuit that crossed the Hanover County line before police located the vehicle, which crashed in a parking lot of a reported business in the 8300 block of Meadowbridge Road.

Fields ran away on foot, according to police.

Law enforcement later located Fields, who was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Fields was arrested and charged with hit and run, reckless driving, eluding law enforcement, driving on a revoked license and possession of stolen property.

"We would like to thank the citizens of Hanover for their support and patience while Hanover Deputies were apprehending this suspect," a spokesperson with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office said. "We would also like to take time to thank Henrico Police for their partnership in this case."
