202.5 pounds of narcotics seized during Virginia State Police investigations

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- In partnership with federal and local agencies, Virginia State Police (VSP) has seized 202.5 pounds of narcotics, 19 firearms and more through investigations from Oct. 22 through Oct. 28.

On Oct. 31, VSP shared an update regarding recent investigations. In partnership with federal and local agencies, between Oct. 22 and Oct. 28, VSP has recovered 19 firearms, valued at $9,500.

In addition, during that time period, VSP seized a total amount of 202.5 pounds of narcotics and 3,041 controlled substance pills. The seized narcotics would be worth nearly $2.7 million, according to police.

The following is a breakdown of the narcotics recovered:

  • Cocaine: 39.3 pounds
  • Crack Cocaine: 2.3 ounces
  • Marijuana: 154.9 pounds
  • Heroin: 1.2 ounces
  • Methamphetamine: 7.1 pounds
  • Fentanyl: 1.1 ounces
  • Fentanyl Pills: 3,019
  • Psilocybin: 1 pound
  • Percocet Pills: 20
  • OxyContin Pills: 2
  • THC Vapes: 1,485

In addition, during that period, VSP recovered $73,809 in cash through investigations.

VSP reportedly received nine gaming-related tips during that time, totaling 1,922 to date.

Nine new human trafficking tips were received, totaling 1,309 to date. There were 208 human trafficking cases investigated or currently under investigation, according to police. Seventy-five survivors have been identified and offered services.
