22-year-old man arrested in connection to Jennie Scher Road murder

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 22-year-old man has been arrested following the murder of a 20-year-old woman on Jennie Scher Road in mid-February.

According to Richmond Police, 22-year-old Damarcus Branch has been charged with murder as well as use of a firearm in connection to a deadly shooting that took place in the 1300 block of Jennie Scher Road on Feb. 15.

Officers responded to the report of a person shot on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10:45 p.m. -- eventually finding 20-year-old Jaelyn Barham-Wooden inside an apartment with multiple gunshot wounds.

She was taken to a local hospital where she died due to her injuries, according to police.
