25 residents displaced in fire that damaged Richmond apartment complex

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Twenty-five residents were displaced in a fire that heavily damaged an apartment complex in Richmond on Monday afternoon.

During the afternoon on Monday, Feb. 2, units with the Richmond Fire Department were called to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Jennie Scher Road in Richmond.

When units arrived, they found heavy fire showing from the roof of the two-story apartment.

Four apartment units sustained fire damage, and eight total sustained water damage, per a spokesperson with the Richmond Fire Department.

A second alarm was requested to provide additional resources.

Twnety-five residents were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The Richmond Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the fire.
