26-year-old woman hit, killed in Richmond hit-and-run
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 26-year-old woman is dead after she was hit while in a crosswalk in Richmond's Semmes Avenue late Saturday evening. Police are investigating the incident as a hit-and-run.
At around 11:30 p.m., officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 1400 block of Semmes Avenue near the intersection of West 15th Street for a report of a person hit by a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they found a woman, identified as 26-year-old Kristin Tolbert, of Richmond, down and unresponsive in the eastbound lanes of the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Richmond Police Department Crash Team determined that Tolbert was crossing Semmes Avenue northbound when she was hit by a vehicle heading eastbound.
Investigators said they've investigating the incident as a hit-and-run after the driver of the vehicle had driven away from the scene before officers arrived.
