29-year-old woman killed in two-vehicle crash on Kino Road in Essex County

ESSEX COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 29-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Kino Road in Essex County on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Virginia State Police, a two-vehicle crash occurred at 12:44 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, on Kino Road, just north of Clarke Lane in Essex County.

Police said a 2019 Kia Sorento heading south on Kino Road crossed the double-yellow centerline and hit a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado head-on that was heading north.

The driver of the Kia, 29-year-old Devin Nicole Woodland, of the town of Tappahannock in Essex County, died at the scene, according to officials.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 59-year-old Timothy Winn McKinley, also of the town of Tappahannock, was taken via MedFlight to a Richmond hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Officials continue to investigate.
