2nd annual Chesterfield County Sports Hall of Fame ceremony to be held this week
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The second annual Chesterfield County Sports Hall of Fame Ceremony will take place this Thursday.
People can head to the Perkinson Center for Arts and Education at 11810 Centre St. on Thursday, Sept. 18, for a ceremony and banquet. Doors open to the public at 6 p.m., and the ceremony itself will begin at 7 p.m.
According to a county release, it has been confirmed that inductees Charles McLeod, Megan Walker and the family of Lennie Pond will be in attendance.
This will be the second class of inductees welcomed into the county's Sports Hall of Fame -- which will include Rudi Johnson, Sean Marshall, Shannon Taylor and William Henderson.
In addition to the inductees, grant recipients will be announced for the C-Fit Community and special presentations will be done for the Sports Event of the Year, Community Partner recognition and the Midlothian High School softball team, the release said.
Those being inducted will have their names displayed on the county's Hall of Fame wall located at River City Sportsplex at 13030 Genito Road.
The Chesterfield County Sports Hall of Fame is presented by Virginia Credit Union and was established in 2024, to honor athletic individuals who have contributed to the county's sports history and legacy.
