32-year-old man charged with second-degree murder after woman found dead in Chesterfield home
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 32-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to a Chesterfield shooting that killed his mother's friend. Police said the suspect's mother was found with "significant injuries" at the scene, and additional charges are pending. According to Chesterfield Police, officers responded to the report of a domestic situation with a weapon in the 21100 block of Matoaca Road at 10:58 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13. A woman identified by police as 59-year-old Tamara L. Recchia was found dead upon the officers' arrival from an apparent gunshot wound. Police said Recchia was a friend of the suspect's mother. There was another woman found who had "significant injuries" according to police, and she is currently in stable condition at a local hospital. Police said the injured woman is the suspect's mother. Officers also found 32-year-old Brandon L. Rhodes who was "sitting at an adjacent residence," as stated by police. Rhodes was living with both his mother and his mother's friend at the Matoaca Road home. After investigating, Rhodes was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection to Recchia's death. He is currently being held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail. There are additional charges pending, according to police.
