37-year-old identified as Henrico sign spinner killed in tractor-trailer crash

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 37-year-old man has been identified as the sign spinner who died in a tractor-trailer crash in Henrico County on Thursday morning.
On Friday, Sept. 5, the Henrico County Police Division identified the victim in a deadly crash in Henrico on Thursday as 37-year-old Phillip Andrew McBride after a tractor-trailer flipped and pinned him.
At around 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, officers were called to the scene of a deadly crash involving a tractor-trailer, another vehicle, and a pedestrian at the intersection of Williamsburg Road and S. Laburnum Avenue.
The pedestrian -- identified as McBride -- was pinned underneath the tractor-trailer, which had flipped onto its side. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The tractor-trailer driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and, according to police, has since been released.
According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates that the tractor-trailer was hauling a concrete slab when it collided with a small straight-truck hauling propane at the intersection.
As of Friday afternoon, Henrico Police said the investigation indicates the driver of the tractor-trailer ran through a red light as it was traveling east on Williamsburg Road.
The small straight-truck traveling on S. Laburnum Avenue was heading into the intersection with a green light and hit the tractor-trailer, according to police.
No other injuries were reported, police said.
