38-year-old Chesterfield man killed in ‘justifiable homicide’
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 38-year-old has been identified as the man who was killed in a shooting in Chesterfield early Thursday morning. Officials are investigating the shooting as a "justifiable homicide."
According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, officers responded to the 12300 block of Moores Lake Road at 4:07 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
When officers arrived, they found a man, now identified as 38-year-old Eddie Hairston III, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
As of the time of reporting, officials said that the investigation indicates a woman in the residence shot Hairston "during a domestic dispute after Hairston had assaulted her and threatened her life while brandishing a firearm."
While an investigation into the incident is ongoing, as of the time of reporting, police have called it a "justifiable homicide."
