40-year-old woman killed after being hit by vehicle in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 40-year-old Richmond woman was killed after police say she was hit by a vehicle on West Carnation Street in Richmond on Saturday.

At around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the 6000 block of West Carnation Street for a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

When officers arrived, they found 40-year-old Lauren Jones, of Richmond, down and unresponsive in the roadway.

Jones was taken to a local hospital, where she later died due to her injuries.

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team responded to the scene and interviewed the driver of the vehicle that hit Jones, who remained on scene.

According to police, Jones was in the roadway when she was hit by the vehicle, and as of the time of reporting, no charges have been filed.

The crash remains under investigation.
