41-year-old Henrico man killed in crash on Powhite Parkway in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 41-year-old Henrico County man is dead following a crash that occurred on Powhite Parkway in Richmond on Saturday.

At 1:46 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the northbound lanes of Powhite Parkway near the Douglasdale Road exit for a single-vehicle crash.

When officers arrived, they found a damaged vehicle that had hit the guardrail on the right side of the parkway.

The driver, who police identified as 41-year-old Stephen Lomax, of Henrico County, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of Lomax's death.

The northbound lanes of the parkway were closed for several hours to allow for the police investigation.
