42-year-old arrested after 34-year-old man shot, killed in Hopewell
HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- A 42-year-old Hopewell resident was arrested and charged with murder after a 34-year-old man was shot and killed on Friday night.
At 8:39 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, officers with the Hopewell Police Department were called to the area of Arlington Road and Raleigh Street for a report of an unresponsive male.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. He later died due to his injuries on the scene, according to police.
Police have identified the victim as 34-year-old Travis Lamont Coleman of Hopewell.
On Saturday, Sept. 6, officers arrested Johnnie Terrell McGhee of Hopewell, former a Richmond resident. He was charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting in a public place resulting in injury.
“He is thankful for the tireless efforts of the Patrol Division as well as the Investigators, and the
Community's support in the quick apprehension of the suspect," Chief Gregory Taylor
said.
