44 displaced, 1 hospitalized after apartment building fire in Chesterfield County
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Forty-four people are displaced and one person was hospitalized after a fire blazed from an apartment building in Chesterfield County early Thursday morning.
According to Chesterfield County Fire and EMS, crews received a call for a reported fire at 1:55 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8.
The fire occurred at the Waterside at Iron Bridge Apartments located in the 6400 block of Wooded Glen Court off of Iron Bridge Road in Chesterfield County, with first crews arriving at 2:02 a.m., according to Chesterfield fire chief Edward Senter Jr.

Senter said that when crews arrived, flames moved quickly through the third floor and through the roof.
Chesterfield County Fire and EMS crews rescued multiple people from the blaze who were trapped on balconies and in their apartments.
One person was injured in the fire and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The resident is expected to be okay.

Officials said one building in the apartment complex was significantly damaged. A total of roughly 44 residents were displaced by the fire, but all are accounted for, according to Chesterfield County Fire and EMS.
The Red Cross and apartment management are helping assist residents.
Officials say the cause of the fire is still unknown, however is under investigation.

This comes after another house fire in Richmond in the evening on Tuesday, Jan. 6, on Darlene Street, which left a couple displaced.
