59-year-old arrested after ‘physical altercation’ results in stepfather’s death
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 59-year-old man has been arrested after getting into a "physical altercation," which resulted in his stepfather's death in June.
Officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department were called to the 6600 block of Masada Drive at around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, for a report of a domestic disturbance.
The person who called informed police that 59-year-old Tracy L. Rouse had gotten into what police are describing as a "physical altercation" with 78-year-old Howard T. Braxton -- who is Rouse's stepfather, according to authorities. Both individuals live at the home on Masada Drive.
Police said Braxton was taken to a local hospital, and Rouse was arrested and charged with malicious wounding. Rouse was taken to Chesterfield County Jail to be held without bond.
According to officials, Braxton then died as a result of his injuries two days later on June 28. Detectives got a warrant for felony murder about Braxton's death on July 10, which was served to Rouse on July 11.
As of the time of reporting, Rouse remains in custody at the Chesterfield County Jail.
