61-year-old Petersburg man arrested after malicious wounding
PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A 61-year-old man was arrested for malicious wounding in Petersburg in connection to a Tuesday morning assault.
At around 11:09 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police responded to a report of an assault in the 1800 block of W. Washington Street.
When police arrived, they found an unidentified victim with a laceration next to his eye.
Police said the suspect, 61-year-old David Batts, Sr., who was not there when they arrived, surrendered to law enforcement at police headquarters.
Batts was charged with malicious wounding and taken to Riverside Regional Jail on a secure bond.
