62-year-old man killed in motorcycle crash in Gloucester
GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 62-year-old Gloucester County man is dead after police said he crashed his motorcycle on Burkes Pond Road on Wednesday morning. According to Virginia State Police, troopers responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Burkes Pond Road near Route 14 in Gloucester at around 8:52 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23. It was determined that 62-year-old Richard Gregory Gibson, Jr., of Gloucester, was driving a 200 Harley Davidson motorcycle heading north on Burkes Pond Road when he ran off the roadway into a ditch. Gibson was taken to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, where he later died. Police said it is unknown at this time whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
