RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Lace up your sneakers and start drafting costume ideas! The seventh annual Cap Trail 10M and 5k returns to Richmond in October, with fall views and festivities galore.
The Dominion Energy Cap Trail 10M and 5k will return on Saturday, Oct. 25, where runners and walkers can enjoy the autumnal scenes along the Virginia Capital Trail.
In addition to the run/walk, attendees can enjoy a commemorative, moisture-wicking race shirt, costume contests and a post-run celebration at Stone Brewing, with a celebratory drink ticket for finishing. Lucky Road Run Shop will also provide top-finisher prizes.
The event will also feature on-site packet pickup, cup-less water stations, bag drop and course support.
Cap Trail Summer Challenge invites people to explore the Virginia Capital Trail
Before the race, participants can join a community costume contest with prizes awarded for best adult, child and group costume.
Early bird pricing -- for registration before Oct. 1 -- is $40 for the 10-mile and $35 for the 5k. Youth under 18 receive $15 off their registration, and organizers offer a $5 discount for referring three or more friends. In addition, members of Richmond, Colonial, and Tri-Cities Road Runner Clubs receive $5 off race fees.
Organizers said all proceeds benefit the Virginia Capital Trail Foundation’s work to "protect, promote and enhance" the 51.7-mile Virginia Capital Trail.
