804 Industry Mixer to celebrate music, influencers and entertainers in Richmond
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- An event celebrating music, entertainers and influencers will be coming to Richmond later in January, all while supporting musicians in need. In the morning on Thursday, Jan. 16, 8News Anchors Delaney Hall and Autumn Childress spoke with LaWanda White, organizer of the event, and two-time Grammy-nominated producer Xavier "ZayBans" Baird to learn more. Baird produced "Bloom" on rapper Doechii's album "Alligator Bite Never Heal." He explained that being nominated for two Grammy awards is an honor he holds dear. "It's a blessing, it's definitely a blessing," Baird said. "Over the years, I've put in the work as a producer, and it means a lot to me. Getting my first Grammy nomination and getting my second Grammy, it's a lot." White said the event -- held from 4 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16 -- is intended to build community while uplifting those in the industry. "The 804 Industry Mixer happening on January 26th is really for all creators, musical talent and supporters of the arts," White said. "We're coming together to build bridges, to do something so important, which is give back to our community." In terms of what attendees can expect at the 804 Industry Mixer, White said there are many artists slated to perform. "Definitely a lot of local musicians, regional from established artists that we know and love and are familiar with this in the city, but also some people that are underrepresented and may not be able to get the recognition or the celebration that they probably deserve," White said. The event supports those in need through donations, which will be accepted by MusiCares, a nonprofit that supports musicians with mental health and addiction recovery services, health services and human services. The event is open to the public, and tickets are complimentary due to partners. To RSVP, visit the event's page.
