8Arts & Culture: Ian Hess speaks on the future of Manchester Art Park
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- In the latest episode of 8News Arts & Culture, Digital Content Producer Kendal McAuley revisited a compelling conversation with Ian Hess, a Richmond-based artist and the owner of SUPPLY art store.
Hess first spoke with Kendal this past summer about the proposed Manchester Art Park initiative, an ambitious project aimed at transforming an underutilized space into a dynamic community hub for artists and creatives. Now, months later, we check in to see how the vision is progressing.
Hess, known for his contributions to the local arts scene, has been an advocate for increasing accessible creative spaces in Richmond. The Manchester Art Park, as he describes, is designed to serve as an open-air gallery and a collaborative space for artists to showcase and create work.

Since our initial interview, he has worked with city officials and arts organizations to refine the proposal, incorporating feedback from community members and exploring potential grant opportunities.
With continued efforts and growing community involvement, the Manchester Art Park could soon become a reality, further cementing Richmond’s reputation as a thriving hub for creativity and artistic expression.
