8News gets a visit from Henrico CASA House to discuss Home for Good event

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from Henrico CASA organizers to discuss their fifth annual Home for Good event, which runs from April 25 to May 11.

8News anchor Autumn Childress was joined by Kristin Blalock, Director of Partnerships, and Emery, a child involved with the program, to discuss the Home for Good event -- which fundraises and raises awareness about the importance of carefree childhoods without abuse or neglect during Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Blalock said there are six playhouse structures on display at Short Pump Town Center and one at Libbie Mill Library in Henrico County, which will be there through Sunday, May 11.

Emery said that for her structure, they received a magic tree house, with books and they created their own lounge.

"This year, [our theme] is enchanted childhood, so anything fairytale, fantastical," Blalock said. "The theme is a nod to our work at Henrico CASA, because we work with children who have not had fairytale childhood[s]. They've experienced abuse or neglect, but when CASA intervenes, we're able to write them happier endings. We hope these playhouses are a reminder of that."

Every $10 donation to Henrico CASA is a chance to win one of the playhouses.
