8News gets sneak peek at Henrico’s Kite Day 2026

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from a special guest on Wednesday to talk about Henrico County's upcoming Kite Day 2026.

8News anchor Madison Moore was joined by event organizer Abby Clement with Henrico County Recreation and Parks to talk about what folks can expect.

"They can definitely expect a really fun time, and just to really engage with the local community," Clement said. "It is a really great way to fly into spring."

Kite Day 2026 will take place at Dorey Park on Sunday, April 12, from noon to 3 p.m. and will feature kite demos, vendors, food trucks and more.

For those who don't have a kite to bring, there will be free kits for the first 300 participants.
