8News gets visit from recently crowned Miss Virginia 2025

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- 8News got a visit from royalty on Wednesday, as the recently crowned Miss Virginia 2025 spoke about her path toward success and where she plans to go from here.

8News anchors Autumn Childress and Delaney Hall were joined by Madison Whitbeck, who was crowned Miss Virginia 2025 on Saturday, June 28. She spoke about how her performance arts background inspired her to join the competition.

"I was never a pageant girl but I saw it as another opportunity for me to sing and perform, and that's why I joined Miss Virginia, and it's just been the most incredible experience the last three years and it's really changed me personally and professionally," Whitbeck said.

In addition to earning the crown, Whitbeck is also involved in a Community Service Initiative (CSI), which helps showcase a cause that she's passionate about.

"My platform, because I come from a performance background, is all about advocating for arts education and accessibility for it," Whitbeck said. "So my CSI is called Arts for All and I cannot wait to advocate for that all year as Miss Virginia."

Whitbeck's next step is competing in Miss America, which will take place in the first week of September down in Orlando, Florida.

"I just cannot wait," Whitbeck said. "It's going to be so incredible to represent Virginia on the national stage."
