Adult, juvenile seriously hurt in large fire that destroyed Chesterfield home

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Two people were seriously injured in a Monday evening fire that destroyed a Chesterfield County home.

The evening of Monday, May 19, firefighters with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS were called to a home in the 21200 block of Genito Road for report of a house fire.

Details are limited at this time, but fire officials said everyone inside the home was able to escape. While firefighters were unable to find any injured residents at the scene, they later learned that two people -- an adult and a juvenile -- took themselves to the hospital with serious injuries.

A video posted by fire officials shows just how severe the damage is to the structure.

A total of eight residents have been displaced by the fire's damage.
