‘An extraordinary woman’: Niece of Louisa woman found dead shares memories of her life

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- In late February, a 51-year-old Louisa County woman was found dead and her 53-year-old boyfriend was charged with her second-degree murder. In the wake of this tragic loss, one of her loved ones is sharing memories of the woman she called "extraordinary."

At about 11:20 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, deputies with the Louisa County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of West Old Mountain Road after a 911 caller, 53-year-old Raymond Jenkins, made "concerning statements" about an "incident" with his girlfriend.

Authorities soon found that woman, 51-year-old Rhea Harlow, dead in a rear bedroom of that home. She was described as having "severe injuries."

Jenkins, who had remained at the home, was arrested and charged with Harlow's second-degree murder.

Harlow's niece, Hannah Dalton, reached out to 8News and shared photos of her aunt, as well as the following statement about her life:

"Rhea was an extraordinary woman full of life and love. She brought much joy and excitement to everyone’s lives. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. We are blessed to have known her and loved her. The care and love she had for everyone was amazing! She was a beautiful gardener and any soil or ground she touched flourished and blossomed into the most extraordinary garden you have ever seen. Rhea was a beautiful woman that brought fun and energy with her wherever she went. We are devastated by what has happened as she was taken away from us so tragically and we are in terrible mourning. However, we will memorialize her in a beautiful way and will make sure her love and light will continue to shine. We urge her friends to do the same in whatever manner they felt Rhea would have wanted to be memorialized."  Hannah Dalton, Rhea Harlow's niece

Jenkins' next court date is set for April 4.
