Anaconda ride to be demolished at Kings Dominion
DOSWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- Kings Dominion's Anaconda ride is set to be demolished before 2025. According to a spokesperson for Kings Dominion, the amusement park's Anaconda ride will be removed prior to the start of the 2025 season. The Anaconda ride at Kings Dominion measures 2,700 feet in length and takes riders through an underwater tunnel, vertical loops, as well as sharp twists and turns at speeds up to 50 mph. According to the amusement park's website, the Anaconda ride was the first looping roller coaster in the world to feature an underwater tunnel. It is also reportedly one of the most photographed rides at Kings Dominion. According to the spokesperson, the ride, which is located in the Jungle X-Pedition area of the park, is already closed for the season as it is not open for Kings Dominion's Winterfest event. The removal of Kings Dominion's Anaconda ride comes just as the park is set to open its new 3,086-foot-long Rapterra wing coaster in 2025 as part of the park's 50th anniversary. "We understand that saying goodbye to classic rides can be difficult, and we appreciate our guests' passion for Kings Dominion," said Geoff Zindren, regional manager of public relations for Kings Dominion. "We're confident that the addition of Rapterra and our upcoming 50th anniversary celebration underscores our commitment to elevating the park experience and making every visit truly memorable for all."
