Apartment near VCU burglarized, police searching for suspect

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- An apartment near Virginia Commonwealth University's (VCU) Monroe Park campus was burglarized on Tuesday.

At about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, officers with VCU Police were called to an apartment at 1200 W. Marshall Street -- located just across the street from VCU's Siegel Center, among other university buildings -- for report of a burglary.

The victim told the responding officers that someone they did not know entered their apartment without permission and took "personal items and currency," per police.

No further details on the items stolen, such as what they were or their value, were shared by VCU Police.

Officers are searching for the suspect, who was captured on security camera footage. A still from that footage is included above.
