Armstrong Walker Football Classic Legacy Festival Weekend returns
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The 4th annual Armstrong Walker Football Classic Legacy Project Festival Weekend kicks off this weekend. The Armstrong Walker Football Classic Legacy Project Festival Weekend celebrates the historic rivalry between Armstrong High School and Maggie L. Walker Governor's School. According to organizers, the game has always been held the Saturday after Thanksgiving every year since 1938 -- becoming one of the most highly anticipated high school games in Virginia history. Although this year's celebration will not include a parade like the previous years, there will be plenty more activities like: On Friday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. -- Hall of Fame Banquet at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. On Saturday, Nov. 30 -- Full day celebration at Armstrong High School, located at 2300 Cool Lane. The celebration will feature a football game between the rival teams, a tailgate party, plenty of free food, a kids zone, vendors and much more.
