Atlanta man charged with fraud involving Powhatan resident

POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An Atlanta man was arrested after allegedly making multiple fraudulent transactions using the information of a Powhatan County resident.

According to a release from the Powhatan County Sheriff's Office, 35-year-old Anthony Jones, of Atlanta, committed multiple fraudulent debit and credit card transactions that totaled over $1,100 on March 29.

Authorities confirmed the victim of the fraud crimes is a resident of Powhatan County.

Jones was arrested by U.S. Customs at the Atlanta Airport on Tuesday, May 13, after returning from Jamaica. He is currently in custody at the Clayton County Jail in Georgia, pending extradition.

"The Powhatan County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Office of Law Enforcement Services with the Virginia Department of Corrections and the Clayton County Georgia Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case," the sheriff's office release reads.
