Bedside program to bring power of music to Chippenham Hospital

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The power of music is making its way to Musicians on Call and Chippenham Hospital, which will celebrate all kinds of melodies with a new bedside program.

The non-profit organization, known for bringing live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients, families and caregivers, is celebrating the expansion of the Bedside program in Richmond with a special event later in June.

The event will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, and will be located at Chippenham Hospital, with a special live performance by Charles Esten, best known for his roles as Deacon Claybourne on CMT's "Nashville" and as Ward Cameron in the Netflix original series "Outer Banks."

"For 25 years, Musicians On Call has used music to promote and complement the healing process through bedside, virtual and digital streaming programs that are available across all 50 states," a release from Musicians on Call reads. "As the nation’s leading provider of live music in hospitals, MOC volunteers have performed for more than 1.2 million individuals in healthcare facilities nationwide."

Attendees are encouraged to park in the main parking deck closest to the hospital entrance.
