Bicyclist fighting for life after being hit by GRTC bus in Henrico
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A bicyclist is fighting for his life after police say he was hit by a Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) bus on W. Broad Street in Henrico County on Wednesday morning.
At 6:46 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, officers with the Henrico County Police Division responded to the exit ramp of Interstate 64 and Forest Avenue on W. Broad Street eastbound for a report of a bicyclist down in the roadway.
According to police, additional information indicated that the bicyclist was hit by a GRTC bus.
When they arrived, officers found a man with "obvious signs of trauma," and he was taken to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the GRTC bus stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
