Both drivers killed in two-vehicle crash in Caroline County

CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in Caroline County that resulted in the death of both drivers. At approximately 6:28 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, state troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 1 in Caroline County. According to state police, a 2015 GMC Acadia crossed the center line of the northbound U.S. Route 1 lane -- 0.10 miles north of Hillcrest Road -- hitting a 2002 Ford F-150 head-on. This caused both of the vehicles to break out into flames. Police confirmed that both drivers were taken to the hospital where they later died from their injuries. Jessica C. Fox, 35, of Spotsylvania, was identified as the driver of the GMC Acadia. Jerry Washington, 62, of Ruther Glen, was identified as the driver of the Ford F-150.
