Breaking and entering suspect dead after going into cardiac arrest in Chesterfield
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The suspect in a breaking and entering is dead after he was detained and went into cardiac arrest early Thursday morning.
Just after 5 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to the 9400 block of Willow Grove Court for a report of a breaking and entering in progress.
When officers arrived, they found a suspect -- an unidentified man -- inside the residence. He was taken to custody without incident.
Shortly after being detained, officers requested rescue to assess the suspect's condition, as he appeared "heavily intoxicated," according to police.
Once rescue arrived, the suspect experienced a medical emergency before going into cardiac arrest.
Rescue and police said they "initiated lifesaving measures," and the suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
His identification is pending next of kin, and the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the manner of death.
