Celebration of life held at Firehouse Theater for local actor shot over the weekend
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Many gathered at Firehouse Theater on Broad Street in Richmond on Monday night after local actor Adam Turck was shot over the weekend.
"Tonight was really about, I have a space. It's a theater that everybody in this community loves and knows, and it's a space Adam performs in a lot. And we just needed to open the doors for people to have a moment to cry together, to have conversation, to learn a little bit more about what has happened," said Nathaniel Shaw, producing artistic director for Firehouse Theater.
According to the Richmond Police Department, on Saturday, Aug. 2 officers found two men with gunshot wounds in the 2000 block of East Grace Street.
Shaw said Turck intervened in a domestic dispute and was shot.
"When he saw something that was not right happening, Adam brought himself into the fray to help other people," Shaw said.
Friends said Turck became Superman, his favorite character, and now his life goes on as an organ donor.
"That's Adam, selfless, and he's still going to go on and help more people," said Kylee Marquez-Downie, who says Turck was like her big brother.
Both actors, Marquez-Downie performed Shakespeare together and met in 2020 for their first show.
Turck was 35 years old. Friends said funeral arrangements are currently being made.
