Charlottesville man arrested after allegedly threatening to harm employees, bomb fast food restaurant
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 45-year-old Charlottesville man is facing charges after allegedly threatening to harm employees and blow up a local Bojangles in December 2025.
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, staff at the Bojangles located in the 2000 block of Abbey Road reported receiving threatening phone calls.
Detectives later identified the suspect as 45-year-old Anthony Scott, of Charlottesville.
On Tuesday, Jan. 20, the Albemarle County Police Department executed a search warrant with help from the Charlottesville Police Department.
Detectives recovered a firearm and ammunition at the home, causing Scott to be taken into custody without incident.
According to police, an Albemarle County Police Department K-9 trained for explosives found no explosive devices or materials.
Scott has been charged with threats to bomb, burn, destroy or discharge a firearm at a building and possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.
"We take all threats of violence seriously, regardless of what may have prompted them," said Major Camille Stewart, Deputy Chief of Police for Professional Standards and Criminal Investigations. "Threats like these are thoroughly investigated and, as this case shows, can result in serious criminal charges."
Scott is being held on a secured bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
