Chesterfield Food Bank to add food distribution day following SNAP changes

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield Food Bank Outreach Center will hold an additional food distribution day next week to help residents impacted by the government shutdown.

The food bank said it's stepping up because of delays in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, which makes this time challenging for residents.

"This is a part of our ongoing effort to make sure that no one in Chesterfield goes hungry, especially during this season when families are already stretched," said the nonprofit in a social post.

The distribution will start at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, at Journey Christian Church, 3700 Price Club Blvd. in Midlothian. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 4 p.m.
