Chesterfield invites residents to participate in e-waste recycling day
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County is inviting residents to bring items to participate in its shred, e-cycling and household hazardous waste (HHW) event.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, located at 10300 Courthouse Road.
Here is a list of shred and e-cycling accepted items, with fees included:
- Up to two small boxes or three grocery bags of personal papers for shredding -- no fee
- CRT televisions -- charged based on the size
- Less than or equal to 27" is $26 per person
- Over 27" is $37 per television
- Hard drive, cell phone and tablet shredding -- $8 to $10.50 per item
- Other electronics -- $5.26 to $31.50 per item
HHW accepted items, all with no fees:
- Acids, bases and solvents are limited to less than five gallons total
- Examples of acids: Muriatic, drain cleaner
- Examples of bases: Bleach, ammonia
- Examples of solvents: Paint thinner, lighter fluid, brake fluid
- Oil-based paints are limited to five gallons total
- Rechargeable batteries, including Ni-Cad, Ni-MH and Li-ion are limited to five gallons total
- Pool chemicals are limited to two bags, five containers, less than three gallons total
- Fertilizers are limited to two bags total
- Pesticides/herbicides are limited to five containers, less than three gallons total
- Thermostats/thermometers are limited to two total
- Aerosol cans are limited to 10 total
- Light bulbs and tubes are limited based on type:
- 4' fluorescent tubes are limited to six total
- 8' fluorescent tubes are limited to six total
- CFL bulbs are limited to six total
- LED bulbs are also limited to only six total
- 3D printing chemicals are limited to five containers, less than three gallons total
