Chesterfield kids get limo light tour with new glasses from Conexus

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Several kids from Falling Creek Elementary School had the chance to take a limo tour through holiday lights on Tuesday after getting new glasses from Conexus. To get a chance to see these holiday lights, the schools that are served by Conexus had to enter an essay contest explaining what the partnership means to them. In a winning essay, Laura Marrow -- the Chesterfield Community in Schools coordinator -- wrote: "Many of our families lack medical insurance to cover vision care and Conexus has bridged that gap for students... After receiving glasses, these students show a noticeable improvement in both their academic performances and self-esteem." Conexus asks for local optometrists to donate their time The students from Falling Creek Elementary School might not have been able to see the holiday lights weeks earlier, but with their new glasses from Conexus, things became a lot clearer. One student, Natalie, shared with 8News what life was like before her glasses. "Everything was blurry and everything was more far, far away," she said. As the limo arrived at Asbury court, one of the homes on the light tour, the kids were in awe. Another student, Edwin, described to 8News what he was seeing. "I see blurry," he said. "I can't really see well, and it's hard to notice stuff that I noticed with the glasses." Edwin then put on his glasses, and spoke to the difference they made. "Now I can see everything perfectly fine," Edwin said. "Still, not blurry... super easy to look at."
