Chesterfield Police investigate two shootings in 24-hour period

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating two shootings that occurred within a 24-hour period and "whether they might be related."

According to police, the first shooting took place around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, in a residence in the 7300 block of Drexelbrook Road.

A woman inside the residence was reportedly grazed by a bullet and was left with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. Two vehicles outside the residence were also shot.

Around 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, police also responded to a shooting near the 5000 block of Caldwell Avenue. Authorities said that a residence and three vehicles outside had been shot, but no individuals were injured.

The investigation into both incidents is ongoing, and officials ask anyone with information about either shooting to call the Chesterfield County Police Department at 804-748-1251.
