Chesterfield police traffic operation results in 150 summonses, recovers stolen car

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Last week, Chesterfield County Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement operation Hull Street Road, resulting in over 150 summonses being issued to drivers and the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

Chesterfield County police recently organized a poll asking residents where they think the department should conduct its next traffic enforcement operation.

According to police, Hull Street Road was the winner amongst five choices -- receiving 249 votes with more than the 750 votes cast.

Additional officers patrolled Hull Street Road on Thursday, June 26, concentrating on speeding, reckless driving, running red lights, impaired drivers, seat belt regulations and cellphone use will driving.

During the traffic enforcement operation, officers stop a total of 141 drivers. According to the press release from law enforcement, there were 154 officer issued summonses and 23 written warnings for a range of different traffic-related offenses.

Police said the highest speed of during the day was 90 mph in an area with a 55-mph speed limit, in which the driver was charged with reckless driving.

In addition, Chesterfield police made an arrest for impaired driving and also recovered a stolen vehicle.

Chesterfield County police encourages drivers to buckle up, put down mobile devices, abide by the speed limits and move over for emergency vehicles.
