CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A group of preschoolers is spreading holiday joy this season by giving back to their community one can at a time.

According to a press release, preschoolers at Primrose School of Midlothian Village completed chores and used their earnings to buy canned goods and pantry staples for their neighbors.

In total, they collected and donated 676 canned goods to Feed More of Central Virginia as part of Primrose Schools' Caring and Giving Food Drive nationwide.

The little students also collected 163 gifts for the nonprofit Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother to benefit local families and children this holiday season.

"The Caring and Giving Food Drive is a powerful example of how our Balanced Learning curriculum goes beyond academics to nurture character and compassion,” said Amy Jackson, chief early learning officer at Primrose Schools. “Through meaningful acts of service, children experience the joy of giving and see the difference they can make in their communities, especially at a time when so many families are facing heightened need.”

Per the release, Primrose Schools nationwide donated over 350,000 canned goods this year. The network has contributed nearly two million food items to local organizations since 2019.
