City Point Race Series returns to Hopewell with new events
HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- The City Point Race Series will return to Hopewell this weekend with a lineup of races available for people of all ages and abilities.
Presented by Hopewell Recreation and Parks, this year's race series will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11, and is introducing two new races -- a quarter-mile inclusion race for all abilities and a 10K race for runners looking for a bigger challenge, per a release.
There are also opportunities for young athletes, including the Kids Fun Run and the Kinder Dash, which are sponsored by the John Randolph Foundation.

There will be additional closures affecting City Point Road, Appomattox Street, Cedar Lane and the surrounding neighborhood streets. The city urged motorists to follow the posted detours.
Bus services at stops near the Hopewell Community Center, City Hall and the Library will be suspended during the event -- riders should use the TriCities Hospital stop instead for pickup and drop-off.
