Colonial Heights man hit with multiple child sexual abuse charges
COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) -- A Colonial Heights man was arrested and hit with multiple child sexual abuse charges on Friday, including possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and indecent liberties with a child.
On Wednesday, May 7, the Colonial Heights Police Department received an online tip about a child exploitation case.
Detectives opened an investigation and soon identified a suspect, 54-year-old Noel David Smith of Colonial Heights.
At about 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 9, police executed a search warrant in the 300 block of Mallard Drive. Smith was taken into custody without incident.
He was charged with three counts of possession with intent to distribute CSAM. Authorities in Chesterfield County served Smith with two more charges, those being indecent liberties with a child and computer solicitation of a child under the age of 15.
Smith will be held without bond at the Riverside Regional Jail pending his next court appearance on May 12.
At the time of his arrest, Smith had been out on bond for similar, but unrelated charges in Texas, per police.
