Community grieving loss of Chesterfield middle school teacher
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Chesterfield County middle school's community is grieving the loss of one of its special education teachers.
School leadership at Tomahawk Creek Middle School informed families of the passing of special education teacher Davilee Kadrlik via email on Sunday, June 1.
Chesterfield County Public Schools shared that email with 8News. It reads, in part:
"It is with sadness that I am writing to share that we have learned that one of our staff members, Davilee Kadrlik, has passed away. We received permission from the family to share this with you. We will continue to keep the family in our thoughts during this difficult time. We have a close community and you may already be aware of this loss. I know that your child may have questions for you. If this is a discussion that you would like to have in your home, we want to be supportive of the conversation as you talk with your child to reassure and support them as part of the grieving process. We have student support services staff members available tomorrow [Monday, June 2] in our school library from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to assist students."
The date of Kadrlik's death, as well as the cause, were not shared with the community.
School leadership thanked the community for keeping Kadrlik and her family in their thoughts during this difficult time.
