Convicted felon faces multiple charges after drugs, firearms seized in Emporia

EMPORIA, Va. (WRIC) -- A convicted felon is facing multiple charges after suspected drugs and firearms were seized during a Thursday morning drug enforcement operation in Emporia.
The morning of Thursday, Aug. 28, the Emporia Police Department detectives, as well as the Virginia State Police Meherrin Drug Task Force, the Virginia State Police Special Operations Division Tactical Team and the ATF- Norfolk Field Office, executed a search warrant at 419 E. Atlantic Street in Emporia.
According to police, the search warrant was the result of an anonymous drug complaint from the Emporia Police Department. When police executed a search warrant, they found large amounts of suspected marijuana, firearms, ammunition and cocaine.
Police arrested Shakeil Pair and charged him with the following offenses:
- Possession of firearm with schedule I/II narcotics
- Possession of firearm by convicted felon
- Possession of ammunition by convicted felon
- Possession of schedule I/II narcotics
- Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
Pair was held without bond at the Southside Regional Jail pending his court appearance at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Emporia General District Court.
