Creighton residents can now cast a vote for the name of the new reimagined community
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Creighton residents can now cast a vote for a new name for the reimagined community.
Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) and the developer, The Community Builders (TCB), invite current and former residents to be part of the community's transition and vote for a new name for Creighton Court.
According to the RRHA, the renaming process is focused on building a bright future while honoring the community’s history.
"This isn't just a new chapter for the buildings -- it's a new chapter for the community," said TCB senior vice president of real estate Juan Powell. "We want the name to carry forward the stories, strength, and culture that define Creighton Court today. That's why we're putting residents at the center of this decision."
Residents will be able to choose their favorite name from a list of six options based on information that highlight the neighborhood's history, leaders, growth and vision for the future.
How to submit a vote:
- Residents can cast their vote for their favorite name until Friday, June 13.
- Voting is only reserved for current Creighton residents or former residents no more than three years removed.
- To vote online, click here.
- To vote by email, contact info@rrha.com. In the subject line, type "New Creighton Name"
- For in-person voting, drop boxes at the Creighton Court Property Management Office, located at 2101 Creighton Road, are available.
- To vote by phone, call 804-780-4343.
RRHA said submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee, which includes resident representatives. The new name will be announced during a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which is scheduled for the middle or late summer 2025.
